    How to Use Readloops

A complete guide to every Readloops feature — from logging your first read to inviting family and earning free months of Pro.

    1. Getting Started

Create your account — Sign up with your email address to get started. It only takes a few seconds. You can also sign in with Google.

Add your first child — Go to the Children page and add a profile for each child you want to track. Include their name and birth date so Readloops can show their age accurately as they grow.

Select the active child — If you have multiple children, tap on a child's profile to set them as the active reader. The dashboard, library, history, rewards, and reading crew all reflect the active child.

    2. Adding Books

Snap a photo — The fastest way to add books! Just point your camera at any book cover and our AI instantly recognizes the title and author. No typing required.

Scan barcodes — Prefer barcodes? Scan the ISBN barcode on any book and we'll find it automatically.

Search by title — Can't scan? Search our database of millions of books by title, author, or ISBN.

Build your library — Added books are saved to your child's personal library for quick access. Re-reads are just one tap away.

Manage your library — Edit details, remove books you no longer own, or manually adjust a book's total read count if you're tracking historical reads.

Set points & difficulty — Open any book to set its point value (1–100) and an optional difficulty label (Easy, Medium, or Hard). Points decide how much each read counts toward rewards, so longer or harder books can be worth more than quick picture books. Difficulty is just a label to help organize the library — you can mix and match however fits your family.

    3. Logging Reads

Quick logging — From the Dashboard or Library, tap "Log Read" to record that a book was read. It takes just seconds!

Quick Re-log — The dashboard surfaces recently read books so you can log a repeat read with a single tap, no searching required.

Add & log in one step — Reading a new book? Use the "New Book" tab in the Log Read modal to snap a photo, search, or scan—then log the read instantly without leaving the modal.

Choose the read type — Select who read the book:

    • Child read — The child read independently
    • Parent read — A parent or caregiver read to the child
    • Read together — Parent and child read together

View your history — The History page shows all logged reads with dates, times, who did the reading, and which caregiver logged it.

    4. Setting Rewards

Create reading goals — Rewards are points-based. Set up goals like "Ice cream after 50 points" or "Trip to the park after 100 points" — every read earns points based on that book's point value, so harder books can count for more.

Track progress — The dashboard shows progress toward the next reward. Children love watching their progress bar fill up!

Celebrate milestones — When a reward is earned, you'll see a celebration animation. Mark rewards as redeemed when you've given them.

Repeating rewards — Rewards can be earned multiple times. Set a goal of 50 points, and your child earns it again at 100, 150, 200 points, and so on.

Redeem rewards — Mark a reward as redeemed once you've given it. Your redemption history is saved so you can look back on what's been celebrated.

    5. Family & Caregivers

Invite caregivers — From the Children page, invite grandparents, the other parent, babysitters, or teachers by email. They get their own account and can log reads for the children you share with them. Free plans include 1 caregiver invite so you can bring a grandparent or co-parent on board at no cost. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited caregivers.

Owner & caregiver roles — The person who created a child profile is the owner. Caregivers can log reads and view activity, while owners can manage books, rewards, and who has access.

Reading Crew — The dashboard's Reading Crew card shows everyone who has been part of the last 30 days of reading and how they participated (read to, read together, or solo). It's celebration, not competition.

    6. Insights & Activity

Dashboard stats — See total reads, books in the library, current reward progress, and the last book that was read at a glance.

Activity chart — A visual view of reading over time so you can spot streaks and quiet weeks without any pressure or scoring.

History page — Filter and search every logged read, including who read and who logged it.

    7. Sharing & Exports

Share with teachers — Generate a read-only link to share your child's reading history with teachers or librarians. No account needed, and links can be set to expire.

Export your data — Download your reading history as a PDF or CSV for school reading logs, summer reading programs, or personal records.

Printable comparison — Use the printable summary to keep a paper copy of your child's progress for school programs that still require it.

    8. Invite Friends, Earn Free Pro

Get a free month for every friend — Open Settings and find your personal invite link in the "Invite friends" card. When a friend signs up using your link and logs their first read, you automatically get a free month of Pro.

Stack unlimited months — There's no cap. Invite five families, get five free months. Invite twelve, get a year.

Share anywhere — Copy your link, share via email, WhatsApp, X, or Facebook, or use your phone's native share sheet.

Track your invites — The Settings page shows who you've invited and whether each one is awaiting their first read, processing, or has already earned you a free month.

    9. Account & Settings

Profile — Update your name and account details from the Settings page.

Subscription — Manage your Free or Pro plan, and view any free months earned through invites.
